Abstract

The thesis gives a photometric study for 8 recently discovered W UMa systems, three of them were discovered by the author. All the observations of the eight systems were obtained by the 1.88m telescope of the Kottamia Observatory in EGYPT. The author used different methods to analysis the light curves, obtained the possible photometric physical and orbital parameters. A star spots model was suggested for each binary. Finally, checking the data by plotting the obtained parameters with a large sample of W UMa stars given by Awadalla and Hanna (2005) by constructing the M-L, M-R, and q-k plots for both W- and A-type. The results show a good agreement with the trend
