Abstract By cultivation of Pleurotus eryngii and Pleurotus salmoneo-stramineaus on four different agriculture wastes (wheat straw, rice straw, wood and sugar cane bagasse), it was found that wheat straw recorded the maximum yield of two tested Pleurotus fruiting bodies. Various agro wastes grew Pleurotus fruiting bodies with different morphological characters (cap diameter, stipe length and stipe diameter). Studying the mineral contents of two tested Pleurotus fruiting bodies using atomic absorption spectrophotometer, it was recorded that it contained high percentage content of calcium and magnesium followed by ferrous and finally zinc element. Our results reported absence of cadmium and cobalt elements of two tested Pleurotus fruiting bodies. Percentage of minerals content of Pleurotus salmoneo-stramineus fruiting bodies was slight higher than that of Pleurotus eryngii. Polysaccharides were extracted from two Pleurotus species fruiting bodies by cold absolute ethanol precipitation. Determination of polysaccharides quantity using colorimetric method, it was noticed that P.eryngii fruiting bodies contained higher polysaccharides amount than that of P.salmoneo-stamineaus so we choosed P.eryngii for other experiments. |
