Abstract Cleft lip is a common surgical problem in pediatric age group. The aim of this study was to compare esthetic outcome of Millard and Fisher techniques in pediatrics. Our study was conducted on 54 patients who were diagnosed as unilateral cleft lip, half of them underwent Millard techniques and the other half underwent Fisher technique, all in the Pediatric Surgery Unit, in El Shatby Children Hospital from December 2020 to January 2022, both were compared regarding post-operative variables (age, sex, weight, cutaneous roll symmetry lip length, nostril symmetry, scar appearance and cupids bow). A significant difference was demonstrated when comparing scar appearance, cupid bow and lip length in both groups with good appearance of the scar in the Fisher group. While Millard group showed average scar appearance There were no significant differences between both groups as regarding nostril symmetry and cutaneous roll symmetry. |
