Abstract Fear of global, social, and environmental catastrophes has led to most developed and developing economies to embrace sustainability as a desirable public policy goal. Therefore, the Egyptian government has made public commitments to transform along a more sustainable trajectory and assigned the public sector the collective responsibility of leading this transformation as Egyptian vision 2030. Henceforth, public sector organizations must embrace sustainable practices, reorient their activities to achieve wider societal sustainable outcomes and govern others to act more sustainably. However, little is known about how public sector organizations are responding to this encouragement in the Egypt.The aim of this research is to explore how Egyptian public sector organization is embedding sustainability strategies for improved competitiveness also creation of framework that is can be used by Egyptian public organization leaders in order to deploy and implement sustainability in there organization. Given the relatively new and unexplored nature of the research hypotheses, qualitative and quantitate research method was adopted to collect and analyses data. Qualitative Semi-structured interviews with 22 professionals (Top Management) were used to collect data which was then analyzed using content analysis for inference and conclusion.Also, for quantitative analysis, 228 response from Regions Gas Co. Employees were collected and analyzed by SPSS software to get advanced statistical analysis. Field work had taken place in Regions gas Co. which is one of the Egyptian petroleum sector companies and considered as public organization, it works in field of supplying natural gas for domestic users. ii The study concluded that an organization wide awareness-raising training programmed on the concept of sustainability needs to be developed and deployed |
