Abstract The current study investigated some of the endoparasitic protozoa and metazoa infecting selected commercial fresh-and marine water fishes in Egypt. Two hundred and forty fish specimens representing eight different species of eight families were collected during the period from October 2016 to July 2017 from Hurghada coasts along the Red Sea and Nile River at Giza Governorate. One species of microsporidian parasite was recovered during the current study which was Pleistophora aegyptiacus and one species from myxosporidian parasite which was Kudoa pagrusi. Six different species of digenean parasites were recovered during the current study which were Phyllodistomum hoggettae, Lecithochirium grandiporum, Bucephalus sp.,Apocreadium galaicus, Euclinostomum heterostomum and Acanthostomum spiniceps. Three different species of cestodes; two of them were larval stages, Callitetrarhynchus speciouses and Kotorella pronosoma and the third was Corallobothrium solidum (adult). Two different species of nematode parasites were recovered during the study which were Proamallanus pacifus and Hysterothylacium aduncum. Finally, only one species of acanthocephalan parasites was recovered and it was Serrasentis sagittifer. All of the parasites were described morphologically and morphometrically mainly by both light and scanning electron microscopy |
