Abstract Aim: The aim of the current study is to evaluate amount of wound dehiscence post operativel and the quantity of gained bone under a PEEK barrier compared to a titanium barrier. Methodology : 15 patients were selected , 5 of them with bilateral posterior atrophic mandibles divided blindly and randomly into two equal groups, Study group was treated with patient specific PEEK mesh, Control group was treated with Conventional titanium mesh.Clinical evaluation included; patient satisfaction, rate of soft tissue dehiscence all over 6 months follow-up. Radiographic parameter evaluated was amount of vertical and horizontal bone gained immediately post-operative and 6 months follow-up. parameters The Operating time was also measured during the surgery. Results: Study group offered lower dehiscence rate, Immediately and 6months postoperatively statistically higher values than in titanium mesh group concerning bone width, statistically insignificant difference between both groups in immediately postoperatively and after 6months concerning bone height. Conclusions: Patient specific 3D milled PEEK meshes offer better accuracy for augmentation, preferable contouring and superior adaptation over conventional titanium mesh in vii addition to lower dehiscence rate and acceptable amount of vertical and horizontal bone gain |
