Abstract

Water is considered as a gift, where the human being abused it. AS well as the teclmology of the industr), increase, the usage of dye s and other toxic materials increase so the pollutants increase. To address th is problem many of water purification techniques were developmen.t. One of these techniques is adsOlption using Multi Wall Carbon nallotubes (MWNT:s) as adsorbent. MWNTs :showed highly mechanical, suuctural propelties and electrical properties. Specially the large specific area and the high thermal and chemical stabilities, make MWNTs is the perfect adsorbent in wastewater treatment. So we prepared MWNTs using chemical vapor deposition method (CVD) which gives high yield and good quality. Also we discussed the efficiency ofM\VNTs in removal of different kind of dyes under effect of pH, concentration of MWNTs, concentration of dyes, and contact time.The characterizations were rerformed using transmission electron microscope (TEM), semming electron microscope (SEM) and Dispersive RAMAN microscope and spectrometer.TIle devices showed that .MWNTs had size within Nano scale range of 1O-50nm as inner diameter and 5 - 30 ” " ~ " ”11{u03E5}m length and pore size ranged from 1.65 to l.72 nm and surface area with 244.86 m²/g. TIle experimental results indicated that the efficiency of removal of MWNTs increase lmder condition of nOlmal pH, at contact time 60min with agitation speed 240rpm and initial concentration of dyes10mg/1. Under these optimal conditions, the removal reached 98.7% and 97.2%for anionic dyes and cationic dyes, respectively . For economic use, MWNTs can be used more thnn one time were the Same experiments with the already used MWNTs was repeated and it was found that the percent removal is almost the same. The isotherm data was described by freundlich model. The highly adsorbed capacity was described by Langmuir model. To sum up, the results obtained showed that MWNTs has high eiliciency in removal of dyes liorn wastewater
