Abstract

Aim: The aim of study was to evaluate marginal bone loss in horizontal ridge augmentation using computer surgical guided ridge splitting followed by simultaneous implant placement with xenograft (bovine bone) versus free hand conventional technique followed by implant placement and bovine bone graft in horizontal deficiencies anterior maxilla. Methodology: This work was conducted between October 2019 to April 2021. Ten patients that involved in the study suffering missing single or multiple maxillary anterior teeth with alveolar ridge resorption were selected from the outpatient clinic of the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery {u2013} faculty of dentistry -Cairo university. Results: The results showed that was a statistically significant of marginal bone loss in both groups in immediate post-operative and post 6months later. Specific surgical guides used in the study group decreased the percentage of bone resorption by 6.3%.The results also showed that the mean Amount of bone gain in the study group was 1.29mm (33.32%), while that of the control group was 0.7mm (14.21%), which were statistically significant. Also, the mean Implant Stability Quotient for the study group was 69.25±2.36 (SD), while for the control group was 69.00±2.42 (SD). Conclusions: Vertiuale plan and computer surgical guided used in ridge splitting technique has proved to be an available option for decrease the amount of marginal bone loss and decreasing high risk of bad split, fractures or even fenestrations of the buccal cortical plate of bone during separation with massive crestal bone loss surrounding the implants
