Abstract

This chapter investigates developing the structure system of the existing tower (Al-Wasl tower) by using vierendeel outrigger with shear links. Comparative studies are performed using nonlinear time history with six different ground motions. The comparative studies are performed between the structure system of Al-Wasl tower (conventional outrigger) and the proposed system with shear links. The comparative study is conducted regarding the lateral displacement, story drift ratio, dissipated energy, and maximum base shear and base moment. Based on the results presented in this chapter, the following conclusions can be drawn:
