Abstract Purpose: To study diagnostic and predictive value of urinary congophilia in women presented with proteinuria, impaired kidney function, or hypertensive disorders of pregnancy at any time of gestation, until three months postpartum. Materials and methods Groups involved in the current study: They were PR-AKI group, PE/eclampsia group, gestational HTN group, chronic HTN group, CKD group, and healthy pregnant controls. Results : The study findings lead to the fact that the congophilia does not help in differentiation between preeclampsia and kidney diseases in pregnancy. Further studies are yet warranted to improve diagnosis making. Conclusions : Finally, we concluded that urinary congophilia is not pathognomonic for PE, and could not discriminate it from kidney diseases in pregnancy. Keywords: urinary congophilia _ pregnancy related kidney diseases. |
