Abstract

Background: This study aims to identify the best time of manual stretching of hamstrings muscles for children with hemiparetic cerebral palsy to be used for the assessment of knee stretch range of motion which was performed by digital inclinometer. The Purpose of the study was to determine the best time of manual stretching of hamstring muscle in children with hemiparetic cerebral palsy. Methods: Forty five children with spastic hemipartic cerebral palsy were tested for the effect of different stretching times of the namstring muscle for the affected side muscle stretching times and were divided into three groups each group was subjected to stretching of knee flexors for two subsequent days and tested before and after each session .Children were evaluated using digital inclinometer to determine the degree of knee extension before and after each session . Data obtained from the three groups before and after first and second sessions were analyzed and compared. Results: There was no significant difference between the children of the three groups in the pretreatment results age (P-value = 0.47) , sex (P-value = 0.7) and knee extension range of motion (P- value = 0.84). The analyzed data indicated that there was statistical significant difference between results before and after treatment in the first and second session groups A ( p-value = 0.0001), B ( p-value = 0.0001) , C (p-value = 0.0001)
