Abstract Chemical wastes represents a critical problem in most of the industrial fields; in steel industry there is a basic process for the delivery of the steel to accept the next production stages called Pickling process; in this process the steel coils are cleaned from oxides by using hot hydrochloric acid until the metal is fully cleaned from these oxides, due to dissolving the oxides inside the acid it becomes spent. Usually this spent acid eliminated by chemical treatment; and after treatment it transferred to Governmental landfills; which represents additional overheads and environmental problem. For facing the elimination problems; a new method was suggested to treat this spent acid by recovery its iron content. Spent acid have about 35% FeCl 2%; which can converting to iron nano particles (Fe-nano particles). The synthesized Fe- nano particles characteristics were improved by copolymerization with natural polymers; which was achieved both of the chemical characteristics for both components; where Fe Nano particles have magnetic characteristics and the natural polymer have plenty of surface active groups; thus if the two polymers co polymerized with each other they will give new valuable characteristics. Carboxymethyl-β- cyclodextrin (CM- β -CD) polymer and co polymerized it with Fe Nano particles. The synthesizing Fe 3O 4 /cyclodextrin nanocomposite was investigated and detected using different tools as FTIR, XRD, TEM and VSM. The synthesized nanocomposite was applied to resist several types of bacteria includes Gram Positive and Gram Positive Bacteria. Also it used to remove the tested heavy metals from waste water; which gives highly promised ffect. |
