Abstract Objectives: HPLC analysis for phenolic and flavonoids profile of Moringa and Brazilian pepper. Estimated antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of Moringa and Brazilian pepper. Estimation of the ability of Moringa and Brazilian pepper which blended with chitosan / polyvinyl alcohol (CS/PVA) as coating mixture on flame seedless grape to delay deterioration of fruit cluster during shelf life and preserving the antioxidant capacity. Methods & Results: The study included determination of chemical composition and mineral content of the samples under investigation. Also identified and quantified flavonoids and phenolic compounds using HPLC technique. Furthermore, biological activities such as antioxidant and antimicrobial activities were estimated. A trial was carried out to study the effect of coating film depend on chitosan/polyvinyl alcohol blended with plants extracts under investigation. Conclusion : This study suggests that Moringa and Brazilian pepper can be used as antimicrobial agent, furthermore natural antioxidant. So, we can use them as a natural coating film for preserving quality and extended shelf-life for fruits. |
