Abstract This study was conducted to compare digital versus conventional impression technique for maxillary flabby ridge registration in complete denture construction regarding denture retention and stability, soft tissue assessment and patient satisfaction. Seven completely edentulous patients, with localized maxillary anterior flabby ridge were selected for this crossover clinical trial. Each patient received two identical maxillary complete dentures opposing one mandibular complete denture. The maxillary dentures were fabricated with 2 different impression techniques. The first maxillary denture was fabricated using intra oral scanning of the edentulous maxillary ridge then using Exocad software to compress healthy tissues by 0.25mm without compressing the flabby tissue, while the second denture was constructed through the conventional selective pressure impression technique. Evaluation was carried out 15 days after each denture placement, as a base line reading, and then after 3 months with a rest period of 15 days in between. |
