Abstract Educational guidelines can change clinical practice and influence patient outcome, medication administration educational guidelines undoubtedly save money by reducing the use of inappropriate or unnecessary performance. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of educational guidelines on nurses’ performance regarding the medication administration through ,assess nurses’ performance in medication administration, develop medication administration educational guidelines, and evaluate the effectiveness of develop educational guidelines on nurses’ performance. The study was carried out at Ain Shams University Hospitals. The numbers of the subjects included in the study were 36 nurses. Data collection was done through, interview questionnaire sheet to assess nurses’ knowledge and observational checklists were used to observe nurses’ performance during medication administration. The results indicated that, knowledge and practice score increase from baseline post implementation educational guidelines and there were statistically highly significant differences between pre/post phase and pos/follow-up phase as well there was statistically non-significant difference between pre phase and follow up phase regarding total medication administration practice. While there were statistically highly significant differences for nurses’ knowledge through three phases of study. It was recommended that. Develop continuous education guidelines for continuous up to date nurses’ knowledge about medication administration and in-service training program about medication administration. Assign highly qualification and experience nurses for responsibility of medication administration. Motivate nurse by enhance their reasons for enrolling. |
