Abstract

Starting adolescent’s stage and having menarche is a special time in a girl’s life. It is an unforgettable experience. Menstruation is a normal physiological phenomenon and physiological process for females indicating her capability for procreation.
Menstruation can be a scary experience if it is complicated by dysmenorrheal syndrome. Primary dysmenorrhea is a common type of menstrual dysmenorrhea. The prevalence of primary dysmenorrhea is highest in adolescent girls of reproductive age, with estimates ranging from 20 to 90% of girls .
For the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea, acupressure Therapy is effective in the relief of stress related dysmenorrhea, and is ideal for self-treatment and preventive health care for boosting the immune system, increases circulation, relieve colic pain , back ache and recover many of primary dysmenorrheal symptoms . There are very few studies in Egypt that examined effect of acupressure on primary dysmenorrhea among adolescence girls. The present study aimed to evaluate effect of acupressure as nursing intervention on primary dysmenorrhea among adolescence girls. This aim was achieved through :

Assessing nursing students for their dysmenorrheal criteria and symptoms, severity of pain and implementing of acupressure on primary dysmenorrhea among adolescence girls.
This study design was quazy experimental study and it was carried out over one academic year, period from October 2015 to May 2016. which has been concluded at faculty of nursing which affiliated to fayoum university.
The sample was purposive and consisted of 218 adolescents’ female students how have primary dysmenorrheal was collected according to equation and according to inclusion and exclusion criteria.
Data were collecting through
1st tool the interviewing questionnaire sheet that was used to gather data related to characteristics of studied sample also present and past history of primary dysmenorrhea as ( age , body mass index, age of menarche, interval and duration of menstruation) . 2nd tool were multidimensional scoring system which was filled by the studied sample. 3rd tool was the visual Analogue scale which used to assess the effect of acupressure on the degree of dysmenorrheal pain. 4th tool was Hamilton anxiety scale which used to assess the level of anxiety regarding primary dysmenorrhea pre and post acupressure application.

The last part of the study tools was the Likert scale which used to assess the degree of satisfactions after application of acupressure.
Mean results of the present study were as following:-
 The highest percentages of students girls respectively were aged from 19-20 years, more than half respectively were from rural residence.
 More than quadrant of studied sample were overweight.
 More than half of studied sample started age of menarche between (14-16 years old) while more than third of studied sample initiated thier menarche at (10-13 years old) .
 Daily routine and activities of studied sample were improved after acupressure application than before of application.
 Status of anxiety and mood distress of studied sample were stable more after acupressure application than time before of application.
 Degrees of dysmenorrheal pain were improved after acupressure application than degrees of dysmenorrheal pain before application , while level of satisfaction was high in time after acupressure application .
 There was positive Correlation between adolescents girls pain degree and their age of menarche .

 There was significant Correlation between adolescents girls with primary dysmenorrheal pain degree and their body mass index.
 The present study results displayed indicates that, there was strong negative statistical correlation between the degree of pain and level of satisfaction.
The present study recommended to :
5- Developing and dissemination of illustrated guideline included acupressure benefits to control on primary dysmenorrheal syndrome among adolescents girls.
6- Preparing training program for nurses regarding to acupressure techniques at maternity hospitals.
7- Emphasis on the importance of applications for acupressure among adolescsents girls with dysmenorrhea through workshops and awareness sessions.
8- Further researches of acupressure to relieve dysmenorrhea for female out of adolescent age
