Abstract
The present work was performed to evaluate the efficacy of Cynarascolymus(CS) andPhyllanthusniruri(PN) extract on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in albino rats. The evaluation was done by studying the changes in the hematological and biochemical parameters, as well as the histopathological picture.Concerning the results of erythrogram, no statistically significant change was observed in all parameter and in all experimental groups and between fatty liver and fatty liver treated groups either with CS orPN on 75th day and 105th day of the experiment.The results of leukogram on the 75thdayof experiment fatty liver and fatty liver treated rats showed significant increase in the WBCs count, lymphocytes count,Eosinophils count.No significant change in neutrophils, monocytes and basophils count.The results of liver enzymes, fatty liver groups showed a marked increase in ALT, AST and ALP levels on day 75 of the experiment Compared to control.On day 105 of the experiment levels of ALT, AST and ALP showed a significant reduction in the fatty liver treated with CS and PN groups.Serum proteins,Fatty liver groups showed a marked reduction in total proteins and albumin levels on 75thday of the experiment. On 105th day of the experiment levels of T.P and albumin showed a significant increase in the fatty liver treated with CS and PN compared to the value on day 75 of experiment.Serum lipids profile, fatty liver groups showed a marked increase in TC and TG levels on 75thday of the experiment Compared to control. Serum glucose, insulin, Homa-IR, fatty liver groups showed a marked increase in glucose, insulin, Homa-IR levels on 75thday of the experiment. On 105th day of the experiment levels of glucose, insulin, Homa-IR showed a significant reduction in the fatty liver treated with CS or PN.
