Abstract

The present study was designed to compare the accuracy between
the virtual and the actual implant position using surgical guide vs free
handed.
This study was conducted on two model with three implants for
each divided into two groups:
First group: implants placement by surgical guide.
Second group: implants placement by free handed.
CBCT scanning with virtual implant planning were used to
develop a computer based surgical guide which was used to place the
implants.
Models were scanned by CBCT after insertion to compare the
accuracy of planned position and actual position of implants placement
by guided surgery versus free handed technique.
Linear and angular deviations were measured between planned and
actual position in both groups. After results were tabulated and
statistically analyze to reach a conclusion that there was no statistically
difference in linear lateral and global deviation and angular deviation in
buccolingual direction and mesiodistal direction between both groups
coronally and apically.
