Abstract The skin healing is the aim of many studies and researches due to its clinical, scientific and economic interest, especially due to the great frequency of wounds caused by injury in horses as it is well known that the incidence of traumatic wounds in equine is higher than other species and healing usually delayed and complicated. The current study aimed to achieve optimal healing with minimal or even no scar formation in addition to skin appendages formation. Nine animals were used, the animals were divided into three groups according to the time of sample collection one week post wounding (PW), 3 weeks PW, complete healing (34 day). Each group consists of 3 model animals (Donkey) as a representative to family Equidae, in each animal 5 wounds were induced with different treatments, as following, saline as c-ve, betadine as c+ve, ointment (combination of chamomile oil, rosemary oil, and hony), platelets rich plasma, jojoba ointment. The findings proved that ointment treated wounds and PRP treated wounds showed the best result healing macroscopically, while histopathologically the ointment treated wounds showed complete formation of normal epidermis covered with keratin layer, the appendages also formed and was markedly observed. Conclusion, the combination ointment gives efficient and fast healing for equine skin wounds in this study. Key words (wounds, Platelets Rich Plasma, Jojoba oil, Chamomile oil, Rosemary oil, Honey) |
