Abstract DCR is the operation of choice to releif nasolacrimal duct obstraction. DCR can be approached by one of three methods the endonasal approach, the external technique and the transcanalicuar approache. The external technique has the higher success rate than the others. Numerous modiffications of this surgical procedure had since been proposed however modern improvements have mainly resulted from advances in surgical technique and instrumentation. In this study 30 cases with primary nasolacrimal obstruction were enrolled, 15 cases with addition of ologeen implant with the silicon tube and 15 cases with the conventional external DCR using silicon tube only Then comparison between the two methods was done as regard to the success rate and complications, The results this study had showed the following. The success cate: The success rate when using ologen implant with silicon tube was 86.6%. Ologen implantion reduces fibrosis in external DCR It was found to be apotentially safe and easy technique that helps improving the surgical outcomes without intraoperative or post operative commplications |
