Abstract

In light of the fact that the most cardiac arrests occur outside the hospital with poor survival rates, some areas in the world have been able to improve their outcomes after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) by implementation of communitywide campaigns including training of schoolchildren in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Some studies have shown that school-age children tend to accept CPR training better than older people would do. They feel motivated to learn and their learning process is faster and easier.
This study aimed to assess the baseline knowledge of middle and high school students regarding CPR and its improvement after receiving a training program. There was a significant increase in the correct answers related to CPR knowledge after undergoing the training course, with no significant difference between males and females in their knowledge score.
