Abstract In this context, Fagonia schimperi species of Zygophyllaceae family was selected based on its wellknown genus traditional use as diuretic, analgesic, antipyretic, anti-hepatotoxic, anti-dysenteric, antidote, antiseptic, tonic, bitter, anti-asthmatic, stimulant, stomachic, antitumor and anti-nflammatory therapeutic agent. Besides, Neurada procumbens L. was also selected based on its historically medicinal uses for treatment of diarrhea and dysentery and as a tonic to improve heart and respiratory. The application of various chromatographic and spectral techniques (CC, PTLC, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, GC/MS, ESI-MS, HH COSY, NOESY, HSQC and HMBC) enabled the phytochemical exploration isolation and identification of numerous NPs (Triterpenoids saponins, Sterols, Flavonoids). Among them, several saponins, an important and interesting class for the genus Fagonia from F. schimperi were isolated and identified. Their particular structural characteristics compelled their detailed and unambiguous structural investigation. It is worth mentioning that, the present study is the first documentation centered to the phytochemical examination of F. schimperi C. Presl. The present study is embodied in two parts. Part I, described the isolation, characterization and structure elucidation of fourteen compounds from F. schimperi and N. procumbens, which can be classified into seven terpenes (five triterpenoid saponins 4, 8, 9, 10, 11, one triterpenes 5, and one monoterpene 13), two flavonoids (6, 7), two sterols (3, 14), two acetogenins (fats derivatives) (1, 2),and sulfolane (12).Key Words ( not more than 10 ) F. schimperi C.
