Abstract The thesis is divided into five chapters including lists of contents, tables, and figures as well as a list of references. Chapter 1 This chapter is an introduction on the Internet of Things (IoT) including the motivation, the literature survey and this research enhancement with respect to the previous researchers and institutes who have worked in the same area of concern related to Wireless sensor network in the advanced control field within the last decade. Chapter 2 This chapter includes a survey on the wireless sensor network architecture, lifecycle, standards, topologies, technologies, and applications. Chapter 3 This chapter includes a brief comparison between the advantages and the disadvantages of the wireless sensor network versus wired communication in all aspects such as time, cost, security, power, and architecture. In addition, this chapter includes a complete economic study as well between the proposed model of using wireless communication networks in control fields and the usage of a standard wired communication network using Emerson wireless estimator software. Chapter 4 This chapter includes a comprehensive simulation model for the proposed wireless sensor network (WSN) which is developed based on MATLAB TrueTime Simulink platform. Accordingly, the performance of WSN is analyzed using the Pre-emptive Earliest deadline first (EDF) scheduling algorithm. The effect of frame size, Processing delay, Controller stability and Dynamic performance on the three technology nodes “Sensor, Controller and Actuator” with respect to the wireless network performance are investigated. Chapter 5 The conclusion for this work is given in this chapter. Suggested future work challenges including system optimization or extra features are also shown.
