Abstract The present study aimed at measuring the effect of Gamification approach on developing some EFL reading comprehension skills (literal-inferential- critical) among preparatory first year pupils. The researcher adopted the quasi- experimental design. The participants included two classes selected randomly, from Dr. Mohamed El shnwany prepartory school, Mlig, Menoufia Governorate. They were assigned to two groups, an experimental group (N=31) and a control one (N= 31). The instruments of the study consisted of a checklist, a teacher guide and a pre and post- test in reading comprehension skills, and. The experimental group was taught through Gamification approach and the control group received regular instruction. The experiment took place during the first semester of the academic year 2018/2019. Then, data were treated statistically. The findings revealed that Gamification approach had a great impact on developing first year preparatory school reading comprehension skills. |
