Abstract Aim: To describe clinico epidemiological features of thyroid cancer over a period of 2 years between January 2016 and December 2017 in Mansoura endocrine surgery unit and in Damietta Cancer Institute. Patients and Methods: 118 patients who presented with thyroid cancer were enrolled in this study; 97 female and 21 male. After proper history taking and physical examination, all patients underwent radiological, histopathological and biochemical assessment. Results: Our study revealed higher incidence of thyroid cancer in females with female to male ratio 4:1. In addition, females with papillary thyroid cancer were in younger age group than males. Preoperative pathological procedures were found to have good specificity and sensitivity. Conclusion: Thyroid cancer is a relatively common malignancy in Egypt in which females are more affected than males. Males were found to be less oriented to incidence and risks of thyroid cancer with less care for follow up and treatment. |
