Abstract Sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) is considered one of the most important sugar crops in many countries all over the world. In Egypt, sugar beet crop considers the second sugar crop after sugar cane, for sugar production. Sugar beet is liable to be attacked by several diseases, which cause severe losses in root yield and percentage of sucrose. Many fungal disease infected sugar beet root such as damping-off and root-rot diseases. This study aimed to control of root-rot disease using some alternative methods such as fungicides and plant- extracts as safe and cheap control means. This study was carried out at the Gemmeiza Agricultural Research Station in the laboratory and greenhouse conditions (2017- 2018) season. In this experiment, the following were studied: • Effect of some fungicides (tolclofos methyl/thiram --fludioxonil/ mefenoxam--carboxin/ thiram--mefenoxam/azoxystrobin--flutolanil) and some plant extracts(Cumin-Artemisia-Fennel-Liquarice-Indian Sorell) on mycelial growth of fungi (Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc and Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn) causing the sugar beet root-rot diseases in the laboratory condition. • Combination effect of flutolanil with other fungicides (tolclofos methyl/thiram --fludioxonil/ mefenoxam--carboxin/ thiram-- mefenoxam/azoxystrobin) at the rate 1:1 and 1:3 (w/ w or v) on mycelial growth of fungi (Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc and Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn) in the laboratory condition. • Mixture effect of flutolanil with plant extracts (Cumin-Artemisia- Fennel-Liquarice-Indian Sorell) at the rate 1:1 and 1:3 (w/ w or v) on mycelial growth of fungi (Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc and Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn) in the laboratory condition. • Effect of fungicides (at the recommended rates) and plant extracts (at the highest efficiency concentration on mycelial growth of fungi Sclerotium rolfsii and Rhizoctonia solani obtained in the laboratory) on the incidence of root-rot diseases of sugar beet caused by Sclerotium rolfsii and Rhizoctonia solani in greenhouse condition. • Combination effect of flutolanil with fungicides and plant extracts at the rate 1:1 and 1:3 respectively, (w/w or v) in greenhouse condition. |
