Abstract The main aim of this thesis is to investigate how keywords can be useful in detecting the major literary themes in novels. To fulfil this aim, this thesis explores the Key Words in Context (KWIC) of the literary works of five English male novelists,namely: Anthony Trollope (1812- 1882), charles Dickens (1812 – 1870), Thomas Hardy (1840- 1928), Wilkie Collins (1824- 1889), and William Morris (1834- 18 Following the main tenets of Corpus Stylistics, the keywords of twenty novels written by five English male novelists are extracted using AntConc software, with the novels of some other fifteen Victorian novelists used as a reference corpus. |
