Abstract

In this thesis a proposed battery charging strategy for the photovoltaic (PV) systems is introduced to improve the charging rate and efficiency, which in turn affects the battery life time and improve the overall systems efficiency. There are number of charging methods, Out of these Trickle charging Method that is more popular and commonly used. This charging method (Trickle) will be improved by using Fuzzy Logic Algorithm, and as a result of the improvement process a strong life time to the battery can be obtained and more power efficient will be achieved to its charging. There are many motives that lead to concentrate on this issue. Solar energy is one of the renewable energies and it is considered as one of the best solutions of the energy problems all over the world. Battery charging technique is the most important electrical part in the solar system because it controls the behavior and the performance of the system and physical benefits which dates back us as a result of improving the charging control method in PV system.By highlighting the utilization of solar energy for charging the lead-acid, The Fuzzy Logic Algorithm improves the efficiency of battery charging process and enhances the battery life. The batteries that are used in the PV systems are very special (Deep Cycle type) that gives us a throttle current with a long time, different construction and high cost.
