Abstract The purpose of the study is to provide information about the reproductive biology and physiology of Sparus aurata Gilthead seabream from March 2017 to September 2018. The results of the study showed high GSI and HSI in winter. The blood parameters of AST and ALT recorded high values in winter. Estradiol and progesterone recorded high value in summer, While LH value was the highest in both sex during the winter. FSH showed high value in femaleduring the spring. Total and free testosterone values were the highest in the spring. The histological studies revealed variation in the activity of ovaries and testes throughout the four seasons. The expression recorded high value in the autumn and spring in testis and ovaries. Key words: Sparus aurata, Gilthead seabream, Spawning, Hormones, Gonadal Maturation. |
