Abstract Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder that persists throughout a child’s lifetime. Aim of the study: This study aimed to explore relation between parental styles and behavioral outcomes among children with Autism. Materials and method: A descriptive correlational research was carried out at Psychiatric Health Hospital in Port Said city on eighty five parents and their children with ASD. The instruments used for data collection were Structured Interview Questionnaire, Parenting Styles and Dimensions Questionnaire, and Child Behavior Checklist for age 11/2 to 5 years. Results: There was negative relationship between authoritative parenting style and internalizing and externalizing behavioral problems. Recommendation: Involvement of parents in health education programs by nurses to gain the information needed to improve the parental style. |
