Abstract objective/ this study aimed to evaluate the friction resistance between different types of orthodontic bracket. 2- Material and Methods/sample size was 120 brackets and archwires of 40 mm length. It was classified in to 6 groups according to bracket type. A Universal Instron Testing Machine (model no 3345) with a bluehill lite software accurate measurement 0.002 Kg load cell was used. 3- Results/ The results showed significant differences in the friction resistance between the brackets/wire combinations. Pure ceramic (ice) bracket revealed higher fictional force with two alloy wire. Pure ceramic (ice) bracket revealed higher fictional force with two alloy wire. 4- summary and conclusion/ pure ceramic (ice) bracket revealed higher fictional force with two alloy wire. Ceramic reinforced polycarbonate (spirit) brackets produce less friction at the arch wire bracket interface that is similar to conventional stainless steel brackets. When wire dimension increased, friction resistance increased. Nickel titanium wire recorded higher friction resistance rather than conventional stainless steel wire. |
