Abstract The studied archaeological sites are located at the northeastern corner of Kharga Oasis, Western Desert, Egypt. Kharga Oasis which includes several important aracheological sites of different ages, the most of which are those of Roman - Ptolemaic and Coptic periods. The study area could be differentiated into four archeo-physiographic sectors: the northern sector includes Qasr Al-Labekha and Al- Labekha Temple, the eastern sector includes El- Dier site, the middle sector includes Al-Bagawat Cemeteries and Hibis Temple and the southern sector includes Qasr Al-Ghaweita and Qasr Al-Zayan. The monumental materials and bedrock underneath the archaeological sites are suffering from geo-environmental damages and weathering processes, particularly salt weathering at different rates and intensities. |
