Abstract

This study deals with design, synthesis and antiproliferative investigation of novel quinoline derivatives including quinolinyl-furanons, quinolinyl-pyrrolones, quinolinyl-pyridazinones, thienoquinolines, quinoline nitrones and quinoline oximes utilizing 2-chloro-3-formyl quinoline as a starting material for synthesis of these derivatives. The molecular mechanism of anticancer activity was studied using representive examples of the most active compounds. The thesis includes four main parts; introduction, scope of investigation, results and discussion and experimental part. The first part introduction presented an overview about methods of synthesis and chemical reactions of quinoline aldehydes. Also, it includes literature reports about the biological activities of quinolines. The second part scope of investigation outlines the main goals and the rationale of this work; including synthesis, structural elucidation and molecular docking of the prepared compounds in addition to, the biological evaluation of the target compounds. The third part results and discussion discusses and describes the data obtained from various stages of the synthesis of the target compounds and their evaluation. The forth part experimental which includes different procedures employed in synthesis of the target compounds and presented all spectroscopic and analytical data of all synthesized compounds and other biological assays.
