Abstract SUMMARY Myopia is a major threat for vision health across the world. It is responsible for around 75% of the refractive error related complications, with serious social and economic consequences. [11] Patients with severe forms of myopia or high myopia are more susceptible to other ocular abnormalities such as lacquer cracks, retinal detachment, chorioretinal atrophy and glaucoma. [22] Quantitative measurement of static and dynamic anterior segment parameters, both normal and abnormal, provides a broad range of parameters for analysis of the numerous aspects of the pathophysiology of the anterior segment of the eye. [69] Anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) is recently developed methods that allow for objective and quantitative imaging of anterior segment structures and angle configuration. [74] CONCLUSION This study is a prospective , non-interventional , non-comparative , non-randomized observational study. Conducted from January 2017 to November 2017, in Sohag Teaching Hospital & Sohag Ophthalmic Investigation Center, Sohag ,Egypt. 100 Eyes of 50 myopic candidates [25 male / 25 female] were included in this study . Our study shows that: Strong positive correlation between degree of myopia and AL, ACD, ACA and ACC in the form of [K] values. On the other hand there is strong negative correlation between degree of myopia and CT. While there is no correlation between degree of myopia and WTW. A moderately positive correlation AL and ACD A moderately negative correlation AL and CT No Correlation between AL and K reading No Correlation between CT and K reading AL is longer in males ACD is deeper in males CT is thinner in males than in females WTW is larger in males No difference in ACA or K readings between males and females Degree of myopia, AL and ACD increase with age CT decrease with age ACA, WTW and K readings don’t change greatly with age. |
