Abstract A total of 150 pregnant women at 5-7 weeks who attended the hospital for routine antenatal follow-up visits were consecutively recruited for the study.A complete history was taken from participiants. During the first visit at 5-7, all pregnant women provided detailed medical history. Each paticipiant had a Case Recorded Form (CRF), measure GSD and assessment of YS characteristics. The second visit at 7-9 weeks asking the participants about any incidents of vaginal bleebing and /or other dangerous symptom then measure mGSD ,CRL and re assessed YS characteristics (size, shape andechogencity). The third visit at 13weeks to assess fetal viability. The current study were statistical significance increase in frequency of abortion among cases who had absent yolk sac or hyperechoic centre or abnormal large yolk sac size and were non significance increase in frequency of abortion among cases who had small YS diameter or abnormal shape . The mGSD-CRL ratio can be used with cutoff 5.3 mm to predict pregnancy viability by accuracy was 93.2%. The results of this study in agreement with most of previous studies as regard to YS diameter and echogencity but disagreement regarding to abnormal YS shape this discrepancy due to low numbers of cases who had abnormal yolk sac characteristics. |
