Abstract

Drug residues of amoxicillin L.A in rabbit (kidneys , liver and breast muscle ) was determined by using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) after single subcutenous administration of drug at a dosage of 20mg/kg b.wt.
from this study ,we need to determine the withdrawal time of amoxicillin LA (Betamox LA®) from (kidney, liver and breast muscle) of rabbit after single subcutenous administration of drug at a dosage of 20mg/kg b.wt. and therefore when rabbit´s organs (kidneys ,liver, breast muscle)become safe for human consumption .
Experimental design: Twenty four clinically healthy New-Zeeland rabbits weighting 2-2.5 kg and 2 months of age were obtained from farm of faculty of Veterinary Medicine ,Zagazig University .
The rabbits were housed in batteries in post graduate research laboratories in Faculty of Veterinary Medicine ,Zagazig University and fed balanced ration with free access to water.
Rabbits were injected with amoxicillin LA (Betamox LA)® by adosage of (20mg/kg b.wt) by subcutenous route.
Results:
Amoxicillin remained within detectable limit till the 5th day in all tested tissues, while in kidneys it remains till 7th day following administration of the last dose of drug. According to the established MRL of amoxicillin 50μg/kg in animal tissues ,We found that rabbit tissues are lower than MRL at the 5th day after administration of the last dose of drug to be safe for human consumption .
Sampling: Fifty gm of breast muscle, f - c until assayed for determination of antibiotic residues.
