Abstract

Air pollution typically refers to a set of criteria pollutants typically referred to as carbon monoxide (CO), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ozone (O3), and particulate matter (PM). The aim of this study is to provide the general pollution status of Sandoub area through the evaluation of gases and particulate matter from industrial plants and wastes burning in Sandoub area. Sandoub is located at the south of Al- Mansoura city, the capital of Al-Dakhlia Governorate, Egypt. Sandoub area is considered as one of the major: industrial centers that hosts four industrial plants such as Mansoura for resins and chemical industries Co.; Dakahlia spin and wear Co. (Dakhletex); Soap and Oil and animal fodder industries; and open burning of garbage.
This study refers to:
• The annual mean concentrations of NO2, SO2 NH3 gases and PM10 in Sandoub area were exceeded the annual permissible limit recommended by the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA, 1995).
• Ambient air of Sandoub area possesses high values of PM10.
- Evaluation of Air Quality in Sandoub Area
• Site 3 has the highest values of NO2 and SO2.
• Site 5 has the highest value of NH3.
• Site 1 has the highest value of PM10.
• Site 3 has the highest values of Pb and Zn.
• Site 4 has the highest value of Mn while site 5 has the highest value of Cd.
