Abstract Roads noise is the collective sound energy emanating from motor vehicles. It consists chiefly of road surface, tire, engine/transmission, aerodynamic, and braking elements. Tire pavement noise has been found to be the biggest contributor of highway noise. In developed and developing countries, roadway noise contributes a proportionately large share of the total societal noise pollution. In this study the traffic volumes on some location on important roads were recorded and the noise level were calculated, the selected roads are Abo qir ,Qenal El sewiss, Elkornish and elMahmodia roads. In this research three different calculation methods were used to calculate the noise levels, these methods are the German method, the British method and the coefficient method (by Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Abou-Ahmed) . It is found that the British method is the higher values also it is found that the suez canal road is the largest values of noise level because it is the most vital center in Alexandria city The study indicated that, the noise level for investigated roads are more than the permissible value for residential area. |
