Abstract
Background : Edentulous is consider a poor health outcome and may compromise quality of life. Implant retained mandibular overdenture with two interforaminal implant is an important option in rehabilitation of edentulous mandible. Regarding the patient’s satisfaction, conventional denture wearers complaining denture stability and masticatory disturbance. Regardless type of attachment used, implant overdenture show marked improvement in patient satisfaction compared to conventional denture. Materials and Methods : PSQ was performed 3 months after wearing each of the following prostheses to enhance neuromuscular accommodation : CD, ROD, TOD and LOD. Patients were requested to fill out questionnaires to assess the following parameters concerning satisfaction in relation to their dentures; The questionnaire deal with patient overall satisfaction with their implant treatment, their perception of various technical aspects of their implant restoration and specific aspects of treatment and defentive prosthesis.
Results: Implant retained overdenture recorded significant higher patient satisfaction than complete denture. Regardless of attachment used no significant difference in patient satisfaction was noted between tested attachment in retention, speech, chewing, surgical procedure and repeat the treatment. Regardless of attachment used esthetic, restorative procedure, complications, information prior to treatment, oral hyegine, and recommend the treatment showed significant difference in patient satisfaction. Conclusions : Implant retained overdentures in patients with atrophied mandibular ridge improved all parameters patient satisfaction compared to conventional dentures regardless the type of attachments used.
