Abstract purpose of the present research is to carry out an experimental investigation for air dehumidification process by passing air in the structured packing consisting of counter-corrugated cellulose paper sheets with a surface area 199.9 m²/m³. The liquid desiccant, calcium chloride, flow through the pad from top to bottom, while the air flows vertically making it in counter-flow configuration. The effect of operating parameters and dehumidifier design parameters on the unit performance was studied. These parameters include air mass flow rate, water inlet temperature, solution mass flow rate, velocity of air, concentration of solution and air temperature . The result shows the moisture removal rate when using a solution concentration 38% and an air flow rate of ṁₐ=0.605 kg/m²s in the case of internal cooling and also if no internal cooling is used. Here we find. The moisture removal rate at X = 38%, ṁₐ= 0.605 kg/m²s and Ts= 27ᵒC was 0.0008 Kg/m²s. Under the same conditions but without internal cooling we find that the moisture removal rate has been reduced to 0.00075 kg/m²s. that the presence of internal cooling leads to increase the efficiency of the dehumidifier under the same conditions. |
