Abstract

The spleen is the largest organ of the lympho-reticular system. Its primary functions include hematopoiesis and immune protection. It acts as a filter for abnormally shaped blood cells and some metabolic products
Splenectomy may be indicated in haematological and or splenic disorders such as. ITP (Idiopathic throinbocvtopemc puipura). Thalassemia, Idiopathic autoimmune hemolytic aneima, sickle cell anemia, traumatic rupture spleen, secondary hypersplemsm, splenic cysts . spherocytosis. and splenic tumors.
Splenectomy could be done as an open approach or laparoscopic approach. For many years, open approach remained the traditional one especially in traumatic rupture spleen and heuiatological disorders with huge splenomegaly.
With development of laparoscopic surgery, laparoscopic splenectouiy started to be better alternative for traditional open splenectouiy. In our study , we aimed to evaluate this technique regarding its feasibility, advantages and disadvantages and we concluded that: w Laparoscopic Splenectomy in benign hematological and splenic.
