المستخلص study aims to identify the effectiveness of a training program using computer for the development of verbal communication and its impact on adaptive behavior for educable mentally handicapped. The samples of the study consisted of 15 educable mentally handicapped children (8 males and 7 females) whose IQs range between (50-70) degrees on Stanford–Binet Intelligence Scales and have deficiencies in verbal communication. The researcher used ”Stanford–Binet Intelligence Scales Fig.4”(Adapted and Prepared by Louis Kamel Melikeh 1998) and ”the Adaptive Behavior Scale” (Prepared by Violet Fouad Ibrahim 2013). The researcher prepared a data collection form for mentally disabled children, a list of verbal communication notes for children with mental disabilities and the training program to improve verbal communication for children with mental disabilities. The results of the study proved the effectiveness of a computer-based training program in developing the skills of verbal communication and improving the adaptive behavior of the mentally disabled members of the experimental group. Moreover the improvement continued after two and a half months from the end of the application of the program.Key words:Educable mentally handicapped - Verbal communication - Adaptive behavior. |
