Abstract The aim of the study: was to assess nurses’ performance regarding infection control measures during children immunization. Research: design: A descriptive design was utilized for conducting this study. Settings: The study was conducted at thirty Maternal and Child Health at Kafer- Elshiekh Governorate affiliated to the Ministry of Health and Population. Subject: A convenance sample of 100 nurses working in the previously mentioned settings. Tools: It included the following two tools; first tool: A structured questionnaire interview sheet to assess nurses’ knowledge about infection control measures during children immunization and the second tool: was an observational checklists for assessing nurses’ performance regarding infection control measures during children immunization. Results: The findings of this study revealed that highest frequency of studied nurses were in age intervals 30<40 years with mean age (32.12±1.56) all sample were female, most of them were diploma nurse, There was a statistically significant difference between age of the studied nurses and their performance, there was statistically significant differences between level of education of the studied nurses and their performance. There was a statistically significant difference between obtaining infection control training courses and their performance regarding infection control measures during children immunization. Conclusion: There was approximately half of studied nurses had poor score of total knowledge and two third of them had incompetence level of practice regarding infection control measures during children immunization. Recommendations: the current study was recommended that developing the training programme for nurses to strength the knowledge and improve their performance toward infection control.
