Abstract The current study tries to determine the best position for inserting a dental implant for single implant supported mandibular overdenture. A digital model simulating edentulous mandible was constructed. The model was duplicated into 4 identical models except for the position of the dental implant. The results revealed that single-implant-retained mandibular overdentures do not show damaging stress concentration neither in the supporting structures nor the prosthesis. In this regard it may be considered a cost effective treatment option for edentulous patients. The area of central incisor or lateral incisor show less stress concentration than the areas of canine and first premolar and hence, inserting the implant at the central or lateral incisor is considered better choice. |
