Abstract The current study was carried out in Departments of Anesthesia and Ophthalmology in Tanta University Hospital, on 50 pediatric patients of either sex, ASA physical status I, scheduled for elective strabismus repair under general anesthesia. After approval of the Local Ethical Committee, all patients’ parents were informed and written consent was taken. All surgeries were carried out by the same ophthalmologist. All patients had elective strabismus repair surgery under general anesthesia. Patients were randomly divided into two equal groups (25) patients each according to anesthetic induction (Ketamine or Propofol) then endotracheal intubation was facilitated with cis-atracurium 0.15mg/kg following that the drugs were titrated to acheive adequate depth for the maintenance of anesthesia in each group by total intravenous infusion of either (Ketamine or Propofol) according to the group. |
