Abstract •concerns with the separation via surfactant-assistedtechniques and determination of some selected heavy and transition metal ions. Cobalt(II), and Iron(III) has been selected as typical examples of elements which play significant role in the living organisms and environment. •is concerned with occurrence, toxicity of metal ions of concern and literature review on the recommended methods that has been used for the determination of the selected metal ions. The analytical applications of heterocyclic azo reagents and thiosemicarbazones reagents has been stated in addition to an introduction to surfactant assisted separation methods. •includes literature review. •includes the preparation of reagents, stock solutions of analytes, ligands, surfactants and solid complexes. Also it involves the instruments and the devices which are used throughout this work. These are: locally manufactured flotation cell, pH-meter, centrifuge, U.V./Visible and IR spectrophotometers in addition to flame atomic absorption spectrometer. Finally, the analytical experimental procedures for the separation and spectrometric determination has been stated concerns with results and discussion, In the third part represents an assessment of Cloud point extraction and DNA interaction of cobalt(II)- phenanthroquinonemonophenyl thiosemicarbazone(PPT) complex. |
