Abstract Rabbits are consider as important small animals in developing countries, such as Egypt, because they are herbivores that efficiently convert fodder to animal protein free from cholesterol, they have high rate of reproduction, early maturity, and have rapid growth rate. In efficient production systems rabbits can turn 20% of the proteins they eat to edible meat. Comparable figures for other species are 22 to 23% for chickens, and 8 to 12 %for beef. In Egypt rabbit farming still unstable because they face serious problems such as the disease causing economic losses. These diseases could be caused by bacteria, virus and parasites. One of the main aims for this work is to identify some of the bacteria that cause severe diarrhea and may death of the rabbits. Antibiotics are small molecular compounds that could kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria. Twelve antibiotics represent nine groups were studied. |
