Abstract The waste stabilization ponds (WSPs) system is accepted as the most favourable solution for domestic wastewater treatment in developing countries as well as developed countries, because of its cheap, easy construction, maintenance, and exceptional performance in removal of chemical as well bacteriological parameters. Besides this WSPs are also very sustainable for environment. Generally they are designed considering empirical formulas that were derived from experimental study. It is observed that the actual performance of the WSPs is very often differing from the design values. Mainly sewage characteristics and local ambient conditions lead behind this. Thus investigation of the actual performance of WSPs is very important. |
