Abstract

This work presented a theoretical and experimental investigations on a loops thermosyphon, Loops thermosyphon is consist of an evaporation section, adiabatic tubes and a condensation section. The evaporator section used in this study has an outer diameter of (10)mm and thickness (0.86) mm and condenser section in the same dimension are examined in the test. In theoretical study using Comsol Militphasic Simulation program to simulated the loop thermosyphon, the experiments are conducted under the condition of (20C°, 30C°,40C° and50C°) cooling water temperature of condensation section to study the effect of cooling water temperature on the evaporator surface temperature and thermal resistance for a loops thermosyphon, for heating input powers ranged from (25W to 250 W).
The experiments used methanol and distilled water as the working fluid, the working fluid filling ratio ranged from (10% ,20%,30%,40%,50%,60%,70%,80% and 90%). Effect of cooling water temperatures on the temperature for loop thermosyphon increased with an increasing cooling water temperature and decreased the thermal resistance, the optimum fluid fill ratio are (40%) for methanol and (50%) for distilled water when using as the working fluid, three evaporators, closed two loops, closed three loops and four loops were examined at( 20C°) cooling water temperature and found that (four loops is a optimum ). Finally, the results show the water used as working fluid can support a large heating range.
