Abstract This work investigates Geopolymer concrete manufacture. Different properties of Geopolymer concrete were studied using Fly Ash and locally available ingredients. Sodium Silicate and Sodium Hydroxide solutions are used as alkali activators in different mix proportions. Two mixes with different Molarity were used to compare alkaline activator solutions affect on the concrete properties. Geopolymer concrete was cured under high temperature in oven and pressurized heat steam autoclave. Curing condition affected mechanical properties of Geopolymer concrete. Durability of Geopolymer concrete was investigated through the exposure of test specimen to acid solution and sulfuric salt solution. Reinforced concrete beams were cast to study the behavior of Reinforced Geopolymer concrete under different stages of loadies. Heat cured Geopolymer concrete showed better performance than that of autoclave cured Geopolymer concrete. Heat-cured Geopolymer concrete has an excellent resistance to sulfate attack. There is a minor loss of compressive strength of Heat-cured Geopolymer concrete exposed to sulfate salts. Geopolymer concrete is a sustainable durable building material, which may stand against corrosive environment. |
